Blue Planet Aquarium

Date: 11th Jul 2023 @ 7:38pm

Hedgehogs' Class have enjoyed their 'fantastic finish' to their geography based study theme.

We visited Blue Planet Aquarium and met ocean creatures such as catfish, dogfish, starfish, manta rays and sharks (Sand Tiger, Zebra and Black Tip Reef).  We then met other aquatic creatures such as the Caimans (crocodiles) and pelicans.

An action-packed visit; enjoyed by all.

Coronation of King Charles III

Date: 8th May 2023 @ 3:08pm

King Charles III is passionate about our environment and conservation.   At Warmingham CE Primary, we share his passion and to commemorate his Coronation we have been working on some special projects which will encourage more wildlife into our grounds.

Otters planted some flowers in old wellies.

Hedgehogs made wildflower seed bombs which they later used to create a wildflower area by the school’s front gate.

Squirrels planted some shrubs and bedding plants in the planters which we moved from the front of the school to the edge of the playground so the children can maintain them.

Badgers made some bird boxes for the woodland area.   They then decorated them with paintings of wildflowers, bees, butterflies and ladybirds inspired by the invitation for the coronation which was created by Andrew Jamieson.

Swimming Lessons

Date: 4th May 2023 @ 8:09pm

Squirrels and Badgers are thoroughly enjoying their swimming lessons over at Bunbury. Today, four of our none-swimmers swam their first width without their swimming noddles. The more able swimmers have been perfecting their swimming strokes and stamina whilst our confident swimmers have been working on their life saving skills.

Date: 30th Apr 2023 @ 9:41pm

King Charles is passionate about our environment. We share his passion, and to commemorate King Charles’ Coronation we are going to be working on some projects which will encourage more wildlife into our grounds.

Badgers’ Class have started making some bird boxes for the woodland area. They have decorated them with paintings of flowers, bees, butterflies and ladybirds inspired by the official coronation invitation which was created by Andrew Jamieson.

Once they were dry, we varnished the pieces of wood before hammering them together to create the bird house.

Pensarn Harbour Residential

Date: 30th Apr 2023 @ 9:23pm

Squirrels and Badgers Class have just spent an amazing three days at the CMC Adventure Centre in Pensarn Harbour.   The children took part in a range of activities which developed their resilience and determination.   As you’ll see from the video, the children thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

We would also like to thank the Up and Under Foundation for the financial support they have provided to some of our parents.

A message in a bottle

Date: 21st Apr 2023 @ 7:05pm

Hedgehogs’ Class have been enthused by our ‘wow’ starter to our new study theme. Mrs B found a message in bottle on a beach in Spain. But where did it come from? Who is Evan? Can we find him? The children are excited to learn about the seas and oceans of the world and hopefully rescue Evan.

Otters new topic 'Come Outside'

Date: 8th Mar 2023 @ 3:55pm

Today Otters investigated our new topic title 'Come Outside' as they went on a hunt to see what they could see find in our woodland area. We saw trees, flowers, birds, squirrels, a spider and a dancing worm! We talked about the first few signs of spring that were showing and made sketches of our finds.

On Wednesday, Badgers class went to Southport to visit Chocolate Whirled. The children (and adults!) took part in the 'Bean to Bar' workshop where we learnt all about where cocoa beans come from and how they are made into chocolate. There was lots of chocolate tasting along the way too! Then, we had the opportunity to create our own chocolate bar.

Otters as artists

Date: 4th Jan 2023 @ 7:19pm

Otters class have been progressing their fine motor skills as artists today. We looked at the self portraits we had drawn at the beginning of Autumn Term and discussed how we could improve on them to make this terms self portraits even better. We thought about including more detail such as eye lashes and eyebrows and the types of shapes our features needed to be alongside sizing and placement of our key facial features.

After we had finished, we put our first picture next to our new one and decided on how our added details had improved our pictures.

Otters Wow starter Spring Term

Date: 4th Jan 2023 @ 7:14pm

Otters have had a wonderful start back to school. They were all very excited to share their Christmas news, then we had our wonderful ’Wow starter’ from Zoo2U. We learnt all about African land snails from the jungle. Tenrecs from Madagascar who are interestingly related to elephants not hedgehogs as we had first thought. Then we met Boris, a bearded dragon from Australia whose beard turns black when he’s scared. We also saw Herbert a horse field tortoise from Russia who has notches on his shells called scoots and learnt that they live for 50-60 years. Lastly, we met a northern striped skunk from North America who was very excited to meet us on his first school outing.
