Rights Respecting & Global Learning

A Caring Christian Family Where We Grow Together
Let Your Light Shine ~ Matthew 5:16

We are incredibly proud to announce that Warmingham CE Parimary has been recognised as a Silver Rights Respecting School.   This prestigious accolade celebrates our unwavering commitment to creating an environment where every child's rights are respected and their voices are heard.    By embedding values of fairness, compassion, and justice within our daily practices, we empower our pupils to develop into confident, caring, and courageous young individuals.    This recognition reinforces our mission to nurture not only academic excellence but also the whole child's personal growth—ensuring that every student is supported to flourish both in learning and in life.

Building on our proud achievement as a Silver Rights Respecting School, we are now setting our sights on attaining the Gold Award within the next two years.   This ambitious goal will further strengthen our commitment to upholding the highest standards of respect, equality, and justice in everything we do.   As we work towards the Gold Award, our children will enjoy an even more enriched learning environment—one that deeply values and protects their rights, nurtures their voice, and encourages them to excel as confident, compassionate, and responsible individuals.

What is the UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA)?

The Rights Respecting School Award recognises the achievement in putting the Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) at the heart of our school’s practice to improve wellbeing and help all children realise their potential.

The award is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation.   The initiative started in 2006 and schools involved in the Award have reported a positive impact on relationships and wellbeing, leading to better learning and behaviour, improved academic standards and less bullying.

To achieve the UNICEF UK Rights Respecting School Award, we are required to implement four evidence-based standards:

  • Rights-respecting values underpin leadership and management
  • The whole-school community learns about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
  • The school has a rights-respecting ethos
  • Children are empowered to become active citizens and learners.

What is Global Learning?

Global learning can be described as an approach to learning about international development through recognising the importance of linking people’s lives throughout the world.   In 2015, world leaders agreed to seventeen sustainable development goals for a better world by 2030.  At Warmingham CE Primary, we explore current global issues and encourage an awareness of the impact that individuals can have on them.   We have used the Sustainable Development Goals to explore these issues.  Global Goals

Throughout our school curriculum, the rights of a child and global awareness are embedded in the children's learning.
